Stress can make you feel out of control.
What I love about grounding exercises is that they give you a sense of control.
By consciously deciding to focus on the grounding exercise, you're able to take back control of the moment.
I want to share this one with you:
Counting up by 3's
Starting with the number 3, count up in intervals of 3.
Like this:
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, and so on.
Keep counting for as long as you'd like.
It's that simple.
You'll soon notice how those stressful thoughts begin to feel less significant after a little while.
Why it works:
Distracts you from stressful thoughts: counting like this requires focus and helps shift your attention.
Engages your brain: since it's a somewhat complex task, it activates the parts of your brain responsible for logical thinking and problem-solving.
It grounds you: this exercise brings you back to the present moment instead of focusing on the past or future events that may be stressing you out.
We can't wait to hear what you think!
