Reset Your Mindset: A Simple Shift That Changes Everything

Some days, even the smallest tasks feel exhausting.

But here’s a simple mindset shift that can make things feel easier.

Next time you catch yourself dreading something, try this:

Instead of saying, "I have to work out today," say, "I get to work out today."
Instead of, "I have to work on my project," say, "I get to work on my project."

It seems small, but changing these two words actually makes a huge difference in how you feel.

Why This Works

This shift works because it rewires your brain to focus on gratitude instead of obligation.

When we think of something as a burden ("I have to"), our brain resists it.

But when we see it as a privilege ("I get to"), it shifts our perspective from stress to appreciation.

Think about it - having a body that can move and exercise is a privilege.

Having work or a project to focus on means you have opportunities.

When we start looking at tasks this way, they stop feeling like chores and start feeling like choices.

How to Make This Mindset Shift Stick

Say it out loud – If you’re feeling stressed, pause and say the new phrase out loud. Hearing it helps reinforce the shift.
Write it down – Each morning, list three things you get to do that day. Even small things count! This trains your brain to see tasks as opportunities instead of burdens.
Use your fidget ring as a reminder – Every time you catch yourself thinking "I have to," spin your fidget ring and switch it to "I get to." It’s a simple way to reset your mindset throughout the day.
